On a winter morning in Mawkriah, Shillong, the Eastern Himalayan ranges, covered with mist and the crimson early morning light, form a beautiful sight. While marveling at the numerous pastel hues of the moment captured in the photograph, one can almost feel the cool early morning breeze accompanied by the earthy smells of the spiked coniferous trees and the moist soil. The Shillong Plateau of the East Khasi Hills District has interspersed river valleys, deep gorges and ravines with numerous waterfalls and live root bridges. It is one of the rainiest regions of earth. Granting oneself the luxury of a moment of pause and being one with nature early in the morning, provides an exhilarating feeling as well as rejuvenation, and establishes a balance that helps to overcome the rigors of work, the entire day!
