Neurosurgeon

This beautiful photograph was taken by Dr Mahendra Singh Chouhan using a Nikon Camera with a D850[INSIDE:2]Lens: Nikkor, 19 mm Tilt-Shift (PCE), and a shutter Speed:1/3 sec/ F 32.

In his own words, he describes this experience “After taking due permission from Archaeological Survey of India, I started my journey for Modhera, hoping to take panoramic pictures of Sunset, then moonlight and next sunrise. The pictures were pre-conceived in mind. Though ASI officers did not agree to night shooting but were kind enough to let me shoot beyond closing time of 5 pm. This picture is 1/4th part of the Larger panoramic image. When I reached the spot, my ego was dissolved swiftly realised by the illustrious carvings and I realised -how magnificent is the history of India which we barely know about”.

This majestic Sun Temple was built by King Bhimdev of Solanki Dynasty at the banks of river Pushpavati in 1026 CE, and this period is called the Golden Era of Gujarat. The carvings are reminiscent of extraordinary masonry that India had to offer to the future world. The temples have tolerated several major earthquakes and remain intact to a larger extent, kudos to the architectural science of that time.

It was his way of honouring this majestic place, a sun temple ornamented by nothing but Sun himself..!
