Sir,
An unrecognized painter of Renaissance era created Madonna and Child with Saints on panel, which is now a part of collection in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, formerly Prince of Wales museum, Mumbai. The painting is considered to be the work after Raphael (1483-1520) as evidenced by subtle tonal transitions in treatment of the [Figure 1]. The left toe of the child went up as Madonna placed her hand on lateral margin of foot, thus showing normal plantar reflex. In 1896, Joseph Francois Babinski first described this reflex. It was painted by many prominent painters in Madonna and child theme, much before Babinski.
