The cover photograph

Contributed by Dr. Sandip Chatterji, Honorary Professor and Head of Neurosurgery, Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), Kolkata, and Consultant Neurosurgeon, Park Clinic, Kolkata.

This photograph was shot in North Bengal at the foothills of the Himalayas. Shot intentionally with an aperture of 16 and fast shutter speed to underexpose, this simple daily phenomenon of nature is converted into a romantic spray of rays of the sun to emphasize that we see beauty only when we look for it. It also emphasizes the spirit of neurosurgery—look and you will find brightness amidst the gloom!
