Figure shows a schematic diagram of ANN in test phase. It consists of 40 nodes in input layer, 12 nodes in hidden layers and one node in output layer. The 45 minutes (horizontal scale) of EEG recording was digitally processed in one-second epochs. The network was trained by the FFT of seizure and normal EEG with the digital output value between 1 and 0 (vertical scale), respectively for seizure and normal EEG patterns. The '0' point of the horizontal scale represents the induction time of the penicillin to the cerebral cortex of rats. After training, the network was tested by intermittent epochs from the whole recording, which were confirmed visually as seizure or normal patterns. The high output value confirms the seizure otherwise normal EEG patterns.
